GCD Studios

I just saw some delicious eye candy at GCD Studios, check it out here. There's also gonna be a party:

Thank You

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to round the corners. This came together quickly using some little scraps. Amazingly, I was able to get all of this month's challenges done at 365 cards. I have quite a few cards in my stash, a few ready for a gift set and best of all I think I actually got cards for all the birthdays and occasions sent this month! Thanks to the wonderful team at 365 cards for the inspiration and challenges!!

Ladybug inspired card

This simple thank you card is for today's challenge at 365 cards to create a card inspired by a ladybug. I didn't realize how bad the picture was until I posted it, but you get the gist. It's actually a nice deep red and not blurry IRL!!

Sunday Card

I am always in need of masculine cards so I decided to combine this color challenge from Dawn McVey at My Favorite Things, and the Sunday Sketch at 365 cards. The end result didn't turn out very masculine but that's okay, I know of another use for it!!

Scraplift of myself

Day 28 challenge at 365 cards was to take a layout you've done and translate it into a card. I chose this layout since I knew I had lots of the same supplies still on hand.

And here's the card I came up with:

Parking Lot Fun

My son and I did a little scrapbooking today and came up with this quick layout for this week's Scrapping Out Loud challenge to create a layout using a split complimentary color scheme. I also used this week's sketch and word of the week too. These are some old photos from 2002 - nice to get them scrapped.

Another thanks

Day 27 at 365 cards, was to use at least 3 different types of textures on a card. I have ribbon, button, brads, a little bit of distressing and the title is embossed.

e is embossed as well.

Yellow thanks

Day 26 at 365 cards was to make a card using a color that we personally don't tend to use too much. For me, that color is definitely yellow and here's what I came up with:

Sympathy

I made this sympathy card for the kid's music teacher who has just lost her mother. I used an ad challenge at 365 cards to come up with the color combination.

Sunset card

I had made a card similar to this in the past, and the recipient loved it, so when I saw that today's challenge at 365 cards was to create a scene - a nature scene, I decided to make another one like it. I used a dauber and 4 different colors of ink for the sunset then stamped the images in black.

Love You Crossword

Day 23 at 365 cards was to use this printable crossword image and create a card.

This was stretching it for me, but I guess that's what challenges are for! I covered the "I" on the image as I think I will send this card to Great Grandma from all of us.

Spy toys

A VERY busy layout of Connor's love for spy toys. We initially thought this would be a passing phase, but three years later, his passion is still going strong!

Bonnie's Birthday

Today I needed to make a birthday card for my friend Bonnie, and decided to combine a couple of challenges. The color combination came from Dawn McVey at My Favorite Things and I followed a sketch at 365 cards. I used the June Word Puzzle stamp set from CTMH to created the random stamping and creme brulee, sorbet & watermelon stamp pads.

Lean on Me

Day 21, at 365 cards was to create a card based on the lyrics to the song, Lean On Me, by Bill Withers and here's what I came up with:

Inside Out card

Day 20 challenge at 365 cards was to create an inside out card - a card that is primarily embellished on the inside. I got out an old stamp set and went to town creating a bunch of flowers pop-dotting a few for dimension.

Birthday Cupcake

Day 19 at 365 cards was to create a birthday card without a sentiment on the front - convey the message without actually saying it. I just got this cute little cupcake stamp and thought it would definitely 'say' birthday.

Simple green

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to make a green card. I used 2 green patterned papers, green ribbon, green yarn & a green button to create this very simple card.

Babies, buttons & bows

Yesterday's challenge at 365 cards was to use 3 buttons and 3 bows - no more, no less. This Baby Congrats is for my DF who just became an auntie and is VERY excited about it!!

Keep Smiling Keep Shining

A cute little photo of Nicole last spring. I saw an inspiration challenge at Mix it Up that had spring colors and similar styled flowers. I used felt to create my flowers, and ribbon for the stems. Today's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud was to use some lyrics from Dionne Warwick's That's What Friends Are For. As soon as I searched out the lyrics and found keep smiling, keep shining, I knew exactly what photo to use. I also used their sketch, turned sideways. Even with making my own flowers, this layout came together very quick.

Bright Sunshiney Day

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to make a card with a sun on it, or use the card to convey how the sun makes you feel. I used some CTMH stamps, scraps of patterned paper and some jewels to come up with this for a friend who is going through a tough time and may need something to brighten her day.

Stars for you

This week at 365 cards started out with the following sketch.
This is what I came up with as I need some masculine cards. I used a stamp to create the star patterned paper.

Homemade flower card

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to make a flower out of patterned paper and use it on a card. Last month, Nicole at Scrapbooker's Clubhouse had posted a tutorial here, on making a flower using pp and a square punch. I hadn't gotten around to it so tried it out and thought the resulting flower was pretty cute!

Picture card

Day 10's challenge at 365 cards was to use a photo on a card. VERY unusual for me, but I had taken this photo of the old farmhouse and had planned on sending it to my Aunt so thought, why not turn it into a card. I wanted the photo to be removable so didn't use any adhesive on it so had to come up with another way to hold it on.

Bright masculine birthday card

I need to come up with 5 masculine birthday cards over the next couple of weeks, so today's challenge at 365 cards was perfect - use red, blue & yellow to create a birthday card.

Good Luck

The challenge at 365 cards today was to create a card for someone moving. This was perfect timing since our friends, the Legins, will be moving very soon to B.C.

Kings 04-05

Found this photo and thought I'd better get it scrapped before it disappeared again. This is Scott's hockey photos from 4 years ago and the photo worked perfectly for this week's challenge at Scrapping Out Loud, to use black and one other color in a layout. I also used their sketch even though it wasn't intended for this big of a photo. Used some stamps and a bunch of metal 'stuff' to accent.

For You

Today's challenge at 365 cards was a fun one - use 5 different patterned papers and 5 embellishments. This was a great way to use up some old papers I have.

Celebrate

Another card using for the challenge to create a card using only scraps at 365 cards. I have SO many scraps I had lots to choose from!

Thanks coach

Another card using this sketch at 365 cards. This card is for one of the boy's hockey coaches. Masculine cards just aren't as much fun!!

Basketball card

I used a challenge a 365 cards to create a circular card, or one with a circle being the prominent shape. This is for my son's friends b'day.

Cold Weather

I've had this layout planned for quite awhile, and it finally came together. I used Noella's sketch #43 at Creatively Yours, just turned it sideways. I also took the challenge at Mix It Up to recycle something - the green glittered snowflake circles and strips are from an old Christmas card. It's STILL cold here and we're getting really tired of it!!!

Me.......today

I've never done it before, so I thought I'd take up the challenge at Scrapping Out Loud and make a layout about myself. Me......today. It took me awhile to figure out how to take pics of myself in the mirror and actually get myself in the picture - I've got lots of great shots of the door frame behind me! Then it took awhile to think of what I wanted to say, finally I just went for it and this is what I came up with:

Jewelled card

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to create one with 'bling'. I'm not sure what I'll use this card for but it will be a good all occasions one to have on hand.

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Simple thanks

The challenge today at 365 cards was to make a quick thank you card - definitely my kind of project! I stamped the flowers, then sponged 3 different colored circles using a stencil.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Celebrate card

Another card. This one is for my cousin Jodi's birthday tomorrow. I again used today challenge at 365 cards to come up with it. The challenge was an ad inspired challenge - I pulled out the colors & placement, and noticed there was a tray of cupcakes in the ad, so went with that.

Birthday card

A birthday card for Auntie Joan that will be a bit late since the mailman won't get it there by tomorrow - oops! Monday's challenge at 365 cards was to use only two embellishments on a card, so I used a flower & a decorative brad. All the supplies are CTMH, I did some random stamping to create the patterned paper.

Sympathy card

A sympathy card for friends whose 96 yo Grandfather passed away this weekend. I used today's challenge at 365 cards to use a button, bow & ribbon as a starting point.

Good Luck card

This is for a co-worker of my DH. He is leaving the company after 25+ years. I used a card sketch from 365 cards, and some CTMH product.
